The 2020-2021 school year will be the sixth year that Team Sandland and Sandland has been teaching together at Auburn Riverside.
Mrs. Gina Sandland
It has been my pleasure and privilege to work in the Auburn School district for almost 30 years, starting in the early 1990's at Auburn High in the Visual Communications room. Wow, time flies! I came to Auburn Riverside in the fall of 1997 - back in the "olden' days when students recorded video on VHS tape, processed 35mm film and photopaper in our classroom darkroom, and cell phones didn't have cameras but they did have antennas! My education includes a Bachelor's degree in Mass Media and Journalism and a Master's degree in Educational Technology. I have two grown children and am the proud grandmother of three (soon to be four!). We have a polydactyl cat named Mac Miller, a Husky/Shepherd/Wolf mix puppy named Kono, and a leopard gecko named Toothless. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, reading, learning, cooking, shooting photographs, and spending time with family. In my life, I have found that hard work and perseverance lead to success - excuses don't, and struggles are often opportunities in disguise. I want to help students achieve their goals so they can make a difference in the world. And.... I think we should all try to have at least a little fun every day!

Mr. Tyler Sandland
I have been teaching part-time at ARHS for 5 years now. The other half of my week is spent running my business, Promo Originals - we are a design, screen printing, and embroidery company in Tacoma. Working in the real world industry, that our class curriculum teaches, allows me to bring a real world perspective, and knowledge, to the classroom. I love my days at AHRS teaching Digital Photography and Visual Communications, because it allows me to share my passion for the subjects with the next generation, and also fulfills my passion for teaching and inspiring the youth. I truly believe that any kid, can become any thing – they just need to be shown the possibilities, and encouraged to go after them.
I am married, a father of a 3 year old boy, and have a daughter on the way! Also, I must say, I am pretty lucky to be able to co-teach with my mom :)
